How much to trust what is on this site, and what to check yourself. Every statement below can be checked against the site: the dates on the guides, the credits under the photographs, the wording on the request forms.

What this site is

Coco's Nest publishes practical guides to Goa, lists things a visitor can rent or book during a stay, and sells software to the hosts who run holiday homes. It is not a booking marketplace, it is not a listing site, and it takes no payment from a guest online.

How the facts are checked, and when they go stale

Every guide and every place carries the month a person last verified it, and the sources are linked at the end of each article. Opening times, entry fees, ferry timings and seasonal closures change without notice, sometimes overnight. Treat anything dated as what was true when it was checked, and confirm before a long drive.

Nothing here is professional advice

The pages for hosts summarise law, tax and regulation in plain language, with the statute or notification linked. They are a summary, not legal, tax or accounting advice, and they cannot account for your situation. Check anything you are about to act on with a qualified professional before you act on it.

What the prices mean

Prices shown against a rental or a service are typical local rates, not quotes, and they are not an offer capable of acceptance. Nothing is charged on this site. You send a request, a person confirms what is available for your dates and what it will actually cost, and you settle with them directly.

Who provides the rentals

Items and services are supplied by hosts and local suppliers, not by us. Deposits, conditions, handover and returns are arranged with whoever provides the item. Where a deposit is shown, it is held by the supplier at handover and returned at the end, on their terms.

We are independent

Coco's Nest is not affiliated with Airbnb, Booking.com or any booking channel, and nothing here is endorsed by them. No listing on this site is a paid placement, and nobody buys an entry in a guide.

Photographs and video

Most photographs come from Wikimedia Commons and are shown with the photographer's name and the licence they were published under, wherever they appear at size. Clips on place pages were posted to YouTube by their creators; the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com only after you press play, and from that point YouTube's own privacy policy applies. If you hold rights in something here and it is credited wrongly, tell us and we will correct or remove it.

Reviews and comments are written by visitors and are moderated before they appear. They are the opinions of the people who wrote them, not ours, and they are not verified claims of fact.
