Coco's Nest is two things that hold each other up. It is a set of written-and-checked guides to Goa, with the opening times, the entry fees and the things that are closed half the year. And it is the software a host uses to run the house you might stay in: the bookings, the check-in, the ID a guest has to hand over, and the report their owner gets at the end of the month.
The guides are not scraped and not generated from a listing site. Every practical fact carries the month a person last checked it, and the sources are linked at the bottom of each article so you can check them yourself. Where we could not confirm something, it is left out rather than guessed.
Goa is the first destination because it is the one we know. Other places in India follow when we can write about them to the same standard, which means going rather than reading.
How we work
Every practical fact carries a date
Opening times, entry fees and ferry timings change, and a guide that does not say when it was last checked is asking you to trust it blindly. Each article and each place shows the month a person last verified it.
Sources are linked, not implied
Where a fact came from a tourism department, a gazette notification or an operator's own page, that page is linked at the bottom of the article. If we could not confirm something, it is left out rather than rounded off into a plausible sentence.
Nothing here is scraped
No listing site is scraped and no availability is claimed on anyone else's behalf. Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons with the photographer and licence shown, or they are ours.
How the money works
Two ways, both stated on the page you are on: hosts pay a subscription for the workspace that runs their houses, and guests can rent gear and book services, which we arrange with local suppliers. Guides are not paid placements, and nobody buys an entry in a list.
